Executive Director

Beaverccreek, Ohio
Full-time

The Beaver Creek Wetlands Association (BCWA) seeks a full-time Executive Director to lead the organization. BCWA is a not-for-profit land trust founded in 1988 to protect and manage wetlands in Greene County, Ohio. Since its establishment, BCWA has protected over 2,400 acres of land, most of which is now owned by State and local agencies.

In addition to land protection, BCWA works with its partners, members, and volunteers to complete land management projects on the protected lands, including trail/boardwalk installation and maintenance, control of invasive species, re-establishment of native species, and inventories of native plant and animal populations. The ED will work with two additional paid administrative staff. All other activities are conducted by volunteers from the board, membership, and general public. BCWA also conducts public education programs and participates in public awareness events at local festivals and community meetings.

The BCWA Board of Trustees has established a five-year plan with four major objectives, which will be the primary focus of the Executive Director:
  • Work with agency and municipal partners to complete the Spotted Turtle Trail, a 15-mile system of interpretive trails and boardwalks
  • Create a comprehensive, partner-approved habitat inventory and management plan for all of the Beaver Creek Wetlands and bring the percentage of managed land to 25%
  • Formalize an agreement between BCWA and its partners to achieve comprehensive and consistent management of land and infrastructure in the wetlands, including a mechanism for routine coordination
  • Increase BCWA operating budget, volunteers, programs, and membership by 100% to promote sustainability of organizational initiatives
